For nine years, the American people and the world have been kept in the dark about an event of monumental significance: the freefall collapse of World Trade Center Building 7.

Building 7 was a 47-story skyscraper and was part of the World Trade Center complex. It collapsed at 5:20 pm on September 11, 2001. It was not hit by an airplane and suffered minimal damage compared to other buildings much closer to the Twin Towers.

7 Facts about Building 7

1) If fire caused Building 7 to collapse, it would be the first ever fire-induced collapse of a steel-frame high-rise.

2) Building 7’s collapse was not mentioned in the 9/11 Commission Report.

3) According to a Zogby poll in 2006, 43% of Americans did not know about Building 7.

4) It took the federal government seven years to conduct an investigation and issue a report for Building 7.

5) 1,250 architects and engineers have signed a petition calling for a new investigation that would include a full inquiry into the possible use of explosives for the collapse of Building 7.

6) Numerous witnesses say the possibility of demolishing Building 7 was widely discussed by emergency personnel at the scene and advocated by the building’s owner.

7) Building 7 housed several intelligence and law enforcement agencies, and the NYC Office of Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center, more commonly known as “Giuliani’s Bunker”.


What about World Trade Center Buildings 3, 4, 5 and 6?

In addition to the Twin Towers and Building 7, the World Trade Center complex included buildings 3, 4, 5, and 6. Compared to Building 7, all of these buildings were severely damaged, first by falling rubble from the tower collapses, then by fires that burned for hours. Although these buildings were in critical condition, none of them collapsed.

What Happens?

Each year in New York City hundreds of schoolteachers are suspended. Their teaching privileges are temporarily, but indefinitely, revoked.

Accused of a wide range and varying degrees of misconduct, these teachers are no longer allowed in the classroom. Instead, while awaiting a lengthy adjudication process, they are compelled to report to an off-campus location commonly referred to as The Rubber Room.


Annual Costs in Excess of $35 Million

Teachers assigned to a Rubber Room can spend months and often years there. Though they continue to collect their full salaries, they are not asked or allowed to perform work of any kind, instead sitting idle day after day.

The annual cost of the New York City Department of Education's Rubber Room is estimated to be in excess of $35 million, with some estimates ranging as high as $65 million. In addition, there is a general consensus that this cost is rising steeply with each passing year.


The Rooms

There exists, at any given time, at least one Rubber Room in each of New York City's five boroughs. The rooms are often medium-sized, non-descript administrative spaces with chairs and sometimes tables. Because almost no one in the New York City public education system is willing to discuss the issue on record, it is difficult to obtain a figure regarding the total number of teachers housed in these rooms, but educated guesses usually place it at a population of approximately 600 to 900 occupants, a population that, according to most, is steadily and even dramatically increasing.


The Documentary

On the 4PM installment of the “Situation Room,” Cafferty expressed disgust with Monday’s revelation by the CBS “Evening News” about reckless spending by members of Congress at last month’s United Nations climate summit in Copenhagen.

“It’s a disgrace,” said Cafferty. “This nation is hurting, but Nancy Pelosi can use three military jets for a December trip to Copenhagen, and then refuse to answer any questions about it.”

By the end of the segment, Cafferty could only say, “What a horrible woman she is”.
